Hogwarts Legacy Fan Art - Materials PART III

Another Hogwarts Legacy Fan Art Material project is here. As in the previous study, by transforming the materials into a narrative, the character in the image advances toward the door to witness their inevitable fate. The knight on the right, however, dared to confront the disaster beyond the door, paid a heavy price, and lost his life outside it.

I modeled the wall, door, ornaments, knight and weapon assets in Blender, then exported them to Substance Designer using Height and Color ID maps, allowing for fast iteration while creating the materials.

The door material was built procedurally, and I used vertex paint to generate different surface variations. For the wall and statue models, I applied additional layered blends and controlled dirt, wear, and surface details through vertex painting.

For the wall and knight materials, I added them as planes and increased the polygon count by applying a Remesh modifier. Then, using the Displace modifier with Texture2D height maps, I converted the materials into actual mesh detail and prepared the surface for the vertex paint stage.

And that’s it. This is not the end, but the birth of something far greater. At least for me, it’s my own version of Hogwarts Legacy set in another universe.
